About the Canadian MRKH Conference

Me

(Ashley,

organizer)

This event started out as the "First Ever Kingston MRKH Conference" and was started by MRKH advocate Ashley Clark in 2018 (that's me!). I was sick of travelling the 6-9 hour drive to the closest conference in Boston and after receiving my diploma in Public Relations & Event Management, I decided to start my own conference for women in Canada.

What does the event look like?

My MRKH Conference is a jam-packed day of bonding, education and support for people with MRKH, their supporters and medical professionals. I aim to keep the atmosphere positive and supportive and hope everyone walks away from the experience feeling enlightened and empowered. I like to keep things fun, so you can expect prizes to be given out, fun ice breaker games and a whole lot of smiles – though, don't expect to not shed a few tears either. Let's be real, this conference is an amazing experience, but it will also bring up a lot of emotions. However, I believe that the tears shed at my conference are healthy tears as we all relate and support one another to overcome our emotions and obstacles together.

If you want a quick breakdown of what my typical conference day looks like, I have posted last year's itinerary below. In a nutshell, we start off getting to know each other with some ice breakers, listen to a doctor explain MRKH and then hear from guest speakers with it. After enjoying a complimentary lunch, we move on to breakout sessions where everyone splits into groups and attends the sessions they think best suits their needs. Then, we divide into designated support groups: the MRKH group, parents/family group and partners/friends group. This way, you're in the group you can most relate to. Finally, to finish the day off we all reconvene and answer any final questions guests may have.

On top of the actual conference, we often arrange for a casual dinner gathering in the evening for some mingling outside of a structured setting (and to treat ourselves to some delicious food!).

If you have any questions or are unsure if this event is right for you, don't hesitate to shoot me a message at canadamrkhconference@gmail.com.
